Sensoji Temple precincts (public smoking area)
There are a total of four smoking areas at “Sensoji Temple”.
Public restroom next to Hozomon Gate of Sensoji Temple
- After passing under the Kaminarimon (Kaminarimon) and passing through the Nakamise Dori (Nakamise Street), walk down the path on the right and you will find the public restroom next to the Sensoji Hozomon (Treasury Gate).
- A smoking area is located on the right side of the public restroom next to the Hozomon gate of Sensoji Temple.
Kannon-mae Security Police Station
- When you proceed from the aforementioned “public restroom next to the Sensoji Hozomon Gate” toward the Sensoji Main Hall, you will find the “Kannon-mae Security Police Station” on the right side.
- A smoking area is located to the left of the Kannon-mae Security Police Station.
もなかThe smoking area here is not recommended on rainy days because the ground is dirt.
Sensoji Public Toilet (North)
- Go straight past the right side of the Sensoji Main Hall and you will find the Sensoji North Public Restroom on the left side.
- A smoking area is located on the left side of the Sensoji North Public Restroom.

This is a recommended smoking space where you can feel the Asakusa-like atmosphere!
Hato Bus parking lot behind Sensoji Temple
- A smoking area is located in the Hato Bus parking lot behind the Sensoji main building.
もなかIt is a large place and has three ashtrays installed, so you can smoke in a space that preserves your space from others.
Around Asakusa Station on the Tobu Skytree Line
Asakusa EKIMISE
There are two smoking areas at Asakusa EKIMISE, which is attached to Asakusa Station on the Tobu Skytree Line.
もなかThere are few smoking areas near “Asakusa Station on the Skytree Line”, so it is a good idea to stop by “EKIMISE” before going sightseeing!
Smoking room in the 7th floor restaurant area
- The smoking room is located on the 7th floor in the restaurant area.
- When coming up by elevator, get off at the 7th floor and go left to find the smoking room!
Smoking area in RF (rooftop floor)
- There is a smoking area at “RF (rooftop floor)” using the elevator.
- When you reach the rooftop floor, go left and you will find a smoking area in front of the restroom at the end of the hall.

There is also a rest area, so even those who do not smoke can enjoy themselves!

Directions from Tobu Skytree Line Asakusa Line
- Take the front exit of Asakusa Station on the Skytree Line.
- Turn left and enter through the glass door and you will arrive at “Asakusa Ekimise”.
- Follow the left wall a little further and you will find an elevator to the 7th floor or RF (Rooftop Floor).
You can see the Sky Tree, Asahi Beer, Azuma-bashi Bridge, etc!
【NEW】SMOKING & COFFEE BAR SMOCO In front of the main entrance of Asakusa Station
“SMOKING & COFFEE BAR SMOCO” is located at the intersection with “Kamiya Bar” and “Burger King”, which can be seen as you exit the front exit of “Skytree Line Asakusa Station”.
もなかIt is easy to find if you head for the kebab shop with the red sign.
Although the name of the restaurant is “Coffee Bar,” it is divided into a smoking area and a café area from the entrance, so you can use it even if you do not buy a drink.
Please note that it is open from 10:00 to 18:00 and cannot be used early in the morning.
paspaAsakusa In front of Asakusa Station North Exit
Take the north exit “elevated exit” of “Asakusa Station on the Skytree Line”, cross the street in front of you and head left, and you will find “paspa Asakusa” behind the vending machines.

UNIQLO Asakusa Store 4F
- There is a smoking room on the 4th floor of the building that houses the UNIQLO Asakusa store.
- Enter at the entrance indicated by the arrow in the photo, and take the elevator on the immediate right to the 4th floor, where you will find the smoking room in front of you.
ROX・3G 2nd floor
- There is a smoking area on the second floor of the “ROX・3G” .
- Take the escalator up to the second floor, enter the “GU” on the right side, and turn right at the first aisle you see, and you will find the smoking area.

Adores Asakusa B1F
- There is a smoking area on the first basement floor of a game center called Adores Asakusa.
- After entering through the entrance at the end of the arrow, take the escalator down to the basement floor, where a smoking area is located near the restrooms.
Taito Station Asakusa B1F
- There is also a smoking area on the first basement floor of Taito Station Asakusa, which is located near Adores.
- Enter through the entrance, go down the stairs immediately to the left, and go to the far left to find the smoking area.
What are the smoking rules in Asakusa?
No smoking while walking
Walking around smoking is prohibited in Taito City.
Of course, smoking is also prohibited when riding a bicycle or motorcycle.
There are times when smoking is prohibited
Smoking is prohibited on streets and in public facilities such as parks between 7:00 and 9:00 in the morning.
Penalties
No penalties are applicable.
That does not mean that there is no blame, but rather caution and guidance will be given by the manner instructors who patrol Asakusa.

As you can see, smoking while walking is prohibited, but smoking on the street outside of the designated hours (7:00-9:00) is not prohibited. If there is no smoking area nearby, it is recommended that you smoke outside of the smoking ban hours (7:00-9:00) in a less crowded place.
